We need your support this evening. ETJ Ordinances

Fuquay Varina Planning Board Meeting

7:00PM

Town Hall Board Room
401 Old Honeycutt Road
Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526

All,

In the last planning board meeting I was pleasantly surprised that the Planning Board agreed with many of the points brought up at the meeting by people in the proposed ETJ area.  The town was asked by the board to revisit the rules as they don’t currently make sense when talking about large acreage of rural land.  I took the liberty of re-writing and sending some rules that I thought would be a decent compromise between the towns desire to establish strict rules on animals while allowing for large acreage homesteads to continue to live as they wish.  I was hopeful that the town would use many of my suggestions.  When I received the updated language I was filled with disappointment and left dumbfounded as to why the town would continue to alienate the very people they are trying to pacify.  I don’t have an answer to this, but I do know that now it is more important than ever to continue to fight this loss of freedom.

Please read the latest version of the ordinances here.

It is very important that we have a strong showing at this meeting.  I know everyone is busy but please make the time to come.  Even if you do not want to speak, having supporters there will let the Board know that this is not just a few people who are opposed to this.

  1. I’m on travel and can’t be there this evening. That said, you’re all deluding yourselves if you think that these FV people are giving any consideration to how many show up at these meetings. The first ones were packed and Miss Congeniality and her crew had the gall to have a neighbor tossed out by an armed police officer for ‘interfering’ with her lame agenda. Prior to the start, the crew went around the room and prevaricated as much as they could as to the intent and expected results of the takeover. They got quite a bit of push back and need one helluva lot more.

This is a case of taxation and regulation without representation. We are demanded to swallow this nonsense while being denied any vote in who sets these statutes and fees (taxes). You can meet all you want–the duck and swerve and go right on with their invisible (to us) agenda as though we don’t exist.

If we don’t mount a legal challenge we’re going to settle for the raw end of this deal and soon thereafter be sucked up into the maelstrom of mismanagement, aka Fuquay Varina.

  2. I whole heartedly support this effort. I attended the Planning Board meeting last night (December 17) and listened to as much as I could stomach about chickens and fences being discussed by those fools. It reminded me of the song “Bring in the Clowns” where the final words of the song are ” ………… don’t bother, they’re here.” Then, after being told there should be no discussion in the “audience”, I realized that observing their “performance” was just like every other FV Town meeting I have attended – you can listen, but you cannot speak. A very well lubricated machine, (reminding me of other forms of government) ……… “we welcome your comments, but, oh by the way, keep them to yourself because we aren’t listening” …….. Being an optimistic person, I guess I attended last night expecting something different – ie., an actual open dialogue allowing (and actually listening to) “community input” but upon realizing what it actually was, I left. I am working on a “BY THE NUMBERS” chart that I want to present (in some form) at the Wake County Commissioners hearing on the ETJ Expansion. A copy (which is a work in progress and needs editing) is attached. Any and all input (particularly as to its effectiveness at “numerating” the exceptionally poor management by FV in managing their expansions) is welcomed. I would like to send this table to the Wake County Commissioners, as follow up to Mr. Lore’s excellent write up, keeping it as objective as possible. Any feedback is appreciated. I’m not certain of its effectiveness, and its not meant to be provocative ……. just factual.

I really do fear that we (in this new ETJ) are going to be affected by these FV “regulators” and their nanny state school of thought with NO VOTE whatsoever. Thanks very much, but at mid 70’s age, I believe I’m very capable of managing my “stuff” in a responsible manner myself ……. no help needed or wanted. Its one of the reason I didn’t move into the FV town limits when I moved here 14 years ago. (Olde Waverly Subdivision off Purfoy Road).
